Streampunks

Read, 2017 book "Streampunks: Youtube and the Rebels Remaking Media" by Robert Kyncl and Maany Peyvan.

Many good insights into how youtube works. This is primarily because Kyncl is an executive at Youtube so has access to methods and individuals to construct his narratives. There is very little material saying negative things about youtube. A few times he would write something suggesting a problem (such as trolls) but would quickly say that this is minor or that there have been remedies for it so things are better. Other that this lack of critical distance, the book is a fantastic primer for discussing the emerging role of youtube creators.

I read "A Phule and his Money" by Robert Asprin and a collaborator. I found this at a used book store along with two others from the series. They are books written after his lengthy hiatus from writing and they are really not worthwhile. I felt I was forcing myself to suffer through them. I began "Phule me Twice" but am quitting it.

"Upstairs Wife: an intimate history of Pakistan" by Rafia Zakaria.
Vishal Rajput gave me this book a few months ago. It didn't look like the sort of book I would usually read so it sat by my bedside for quite a long time. It was tremendously captivating and very sad and scary.

"Talking Pictures: Images and Messages Rescued from the Past" by Ransom Riggs.
Collection of found photographs which have the commonality of having inscriptions of varying sorts on them.

I think it has taken years, but today I finally finished reading "The Travels and Amazing Adventures of Baron Munchausen". What has taken so long is that I've been reading it one short chapter at a time, out loud, to William. The text is full of odd archaic words so it gets one's tongue tangled and prevents multiple chapters from being read.
